Date: 15 October 2019 - IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT “GaIN (Green IrrigatioN)”

On 15.10.2019 “Kaskada” ltd started implementation of the project “GaIN (Green IrrigatioN)” Supported by a grant from Norway through the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, in the frame of Programme Area 01 – Business Development, Innovation and SMEs.”

The project will be implemented in Tsaratsovo ,  Plovdiv Municipality. The planned duration is 12 months and the value of the entire project is 1 944 000 Euro as grant amount of 700 000,00 Euro is 36% of the eligible cost on the project.

The overall objective of the project “GaIN (Green IrrigatioN)” is to increase the competitiveness of KASKADA Ltd. by introducing a new innovative product on the markets (irrigation pipes that are produced from 80% recycled compound) and applying a new innovative process and service that will ensure circular approach in the production and distribution of irrigation pipes and will transform KASKADA Ltd. in almost zero emission factory. By implementing the project activities, the company will close the circle of value chain for drip type irrigation pipes and will make the process cheaper and less time intensive not only for KASKADA Ltd. but also for farmers as end-users.

In addition, the project aims to reduce economic and social disparities in the EEA Area and strengthening the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Norway. Project activities will enhance business cooperation between Bulgarian and Norwegian entities by providing knowledge and good practises from Norway in the field of circular economy and zero emission industry.

The project will be implemented through purchase, installation and commissioning of the new irrigation drip tape extrusion line.

The project will directly contribute to the following:

- Extending existing recycling process of used irrigation pipes and introducing to new for KASKADA Ltd. irrigation drip tape extrusion line.

- Increase of re-use of processed waste in production of plastic irrigation pipes by introducing a method for production of recycle polymer irrigation pipes.

- Improve material efficiency by using an innovative material for production od polymer irrigation pipes that is a result of 80% recycled materials.

- Increasing of re-use of recycled materials by reorganizing the production and operational process in KASKADA Ltd. the context of circular economy.
